Applicants whose names have not already been received by the Department of Immigration will be added to the Citizenship Ceremony - North Metropolitan Zone, to be held on Australia Day 26 January 2010.

When and where are Citizenship Ceremonies held?
Citizenship ceremonies are held once a month on a Tuesday Evening at the City of Wanneroo Civic Centre,
23 Dundebar Road, Wanneroo, 6065.
Registration is from 5.00 pm, with the ceremony commencing at 5.30 pm.

How can I find out when my Citizenship Ceremony will be?
The City of Wanneroo is unable to provide a ceremony date until we receive the Conferral Planning report from the Department of Immigration. These reports are sent to the City of Wanneroo once a month. Once the City receives these, you will be booked into the next available ceremony.

What is the waiting time for a ceremony?
The waiting period for a Citizenship Ceremony once you have received the approval letter from the Department of Immigration is between five and six months.

Will I receive my certificate at the Ceremony?
Provided you have been booked into a ceremony four weeks prior to the ceremony date, you should receive you certificate on the day of the ceremony. The Department of Immigration require four weeks notice to order and print your certificates in time for the ceremony date.

When will I receive the details confirming my ceremony?
You will receive an invitation letter three weeks before the ceremony.

How many quests can I bring to the ceremony?
The City of Wanneroo allows two guests per recipient. Children, of course are an exception.

How long does the Citizenship ceremony run for?
The Citizenship Ceremony runs for approximately 1 hour. Refreshments are provided for recipients and their guests immediately following the ceremony.

Is it possible to arrange a ceremony earlier than the standard waiting time (5 –6 months)?
In exceptional circumstances a private ceremony may be arranged. A letter addressed to the Office of the Mayor, stating the reason for the urgency is required with all private ceremonies. What are the fees to apply for Australian Citizenship?
The fees range from $65 and $240 depending on the type of Citizenship you are applying for. Fees are made payable to the Department of Immigration. Before applying applicants are advised to ring the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880 to confirm the fees.

What is the number for the Citizenship Information Line?
The Citizenship Information Line 131 880, it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I have lost my citizenship certificate, what should I do?
If you have lost your citizenship certificate you will need to contact the Department of Immigration on 131 881 to arrange a replacement. The City of Wanneroo cannot issue or replace citizenship certificates.

Do children need to attend citizenship ceremonies?
Children aged 16 years and over are legally required to attend the citizenship ceremony. Children under the age of 16 are not legally required to attend the ceremony however are welcome to attend.
