What is the Household Panel?
The Household Panel is a random selection of people within a specific area who provide comments and feedback regarding particular topics on a regular basis.
The City of Wanneroo’s Household Panel is made up of residents living in the City who will be contacted on a regular basis to complete a short survey or provide us with comments on various issues.
It is important for us at the City of Wanneroo to keep up with the changing needs of our community. We feel the best way to make informed decisions and ensure that we understand what our community wants is to keep in contact with you, our residents, on a regular basis.
How will the City use the information collected?
The information collected from the panel will feed into the decision-making processes here at the City of Wanneroo or be incorporated into the community consultation process for particular projects. The results of the surveys will remain confidential with all reporting being carried out at a group level so that individuals cannot be identified.
Who is eligible to join?
Anyone living in the City of Wanneroo is eligible to be a Panel member. If you are under the age of 18, you will need a parent or guardian’s permission to join.

How many people are on the panel?
There will be approximately 400 households (one person per household) on the panel at any point in time.
Why have a Household Panel?
A Household Panel can improve quality and timeliness of information collected by the City of Wanneroo by engaging a representative cross section of the community to provide input into service planning and direction setting.
How are panel members selected?
Expressions of interest are invited from the community and a random selection of households receives a letter inviting them to nominate. Those who nominate to be a panel member will be added to a database of potential members from which panel members will be selected to reflect the demographic profile for the City of Wanneroo.
How long will I be on the panel for?
If you are selected we ask that you continue on the panel for a minimum of one year, up to a maximum of three years. If you are going to be absent for an extended period of time we ask that you advise us so we can take this into account in order to maintain the accuracy of survey results.
How often will I be completing surveys?
The survey questionnaire is distributed approximately every three months. However, if there is a ‘hot issue’ that requires data quickly then a special survey may be distributed.
What is the information used for?
The information is used to track issues that are important to the provision of services to City of Wanneroo residents and provide a more balanced input on ‘hot issues’.
What if I move away?
If you move away just let us know. If your new address is within the City of Wanneroo you are still eligible to be a panel member. If you move outside the City of Wanneroo then you are no longer eligible to be a panel member.
What if my details change?
Please let us know as soon as possible. It is important that your details remain up to date to avoid inconsistencies in survey responses. The most important changes that we need to know about are:
Change of contact details, (e.g. telephone numbers, email address or postal address),
Change of residential address,
Change of name.
What if I no longer wish to participate?
Your participation is appreciated and voluntary. If you no longer wish to participate, you need to advise us as soon as possible so we can select a replacement panel member.
Are my details kept confidential?
Yes, your personal details or any identifying information that you provide will be kept confidential. All reporting will be carried out on a group level so that individuals cannot be identified.
