This financial year the City of Wanneroo is investing more than $20 million on the building, upgrading and rehabilitation of the City’s roads.
(Hepurn Avenue to Gnangara Road)
The $6 million Mirrabooka Avenue extension will stretch 2.6km. Ultimately it will be a dual carriageway with an underpass north of Landsdale Road, and a new roundabout will be constructed at a deviated Kingsway.
It is anticipated that construction of the first stage single carriageway will begin in 2009.

(Gnangara Road to Hepburn Avenue)
Hartman Drive will be extended 2km from Gnangara Road to Hepburn Avenue, at a cost of $5 million.
Ultimately the dual carriageway will have two underpasses opposite Kingsway Sporting Complex and north of Russell Road.
A new roundabout will be constructed at Kingsway.
Construction of the first stage single carriageway is expected to begin in 2009.

(Wanneroo Road to Galileo Avenue)
The $7 million realignment and reconstruction of Pinjar Road is expected to begin in 2009.
Ultimately the 2.3km stretch of road will be a dual carriageway with one underpass south of Bonannella Entrance.
New roundabouts will be constructed at Carosa Road and Caporn Street, with a new signalised intersection at Wanneroo Road.

City has been successful in securing a grant of $7.03M under the Federal Government’s AusLink Strategic Regional Program for the extension of Ocean Reef Road (4.40km) from Hartman Drive to Alexander Drive. The project scope involves the construction of a four-lane dual carriageway, street lighting, intersection treatments, landscaping and pavement marking/signage. The Federal Government funding conditions require the City to complete this project by 30 June 2010.
In view of the need to secure land, seek necessary approvals and to meet LandCorp’s requirement to fulfill the needs of adjoining land development in Wangara, the City is proposing to undertake the construction of this project in two stages:
Stage 1 from Hartman Drive to a new road named Prestige Parade – June 2008 to December 2008.

Stage 2 from Prestige Parade to Alexander Drive – July 2009 to May/June 2010
The construction of Ocean Reef Road to Alexander Drive would also see major changes to the alignment and layout of Gnangara Road. The section of Gnangara Road from Coverwood Promenade to Alexander Drive will form part of Ocean Reef Road. Gnangara Road will terminate at Madeley Street, which will be extended northwards to the new Ocean Reef Road and renamed as Mirrabooka Avenue. The section of Gnangara Road from Madeley Street to west of Coverwood Promenade will form part of the local road network.
Subject to the approval of Main Roads Western Australia, there is a proposal to install traffic signals at Ocean Reef Road / Hartman Drive and Ocean Reef Road/Mirrabooka Avenue/Sydney Road intersections and construct a roundabout at the new Gnangara Road/ Mirrabooka Avenue intersection.
