$13,500 prize pool for Art Awards

Tuesday, 07 Feb 2012
Artists from across Western Australia are invited to enter the 2012 City of Wanneroo Art Awards.

The 11th annual awards boast a total prize pool of $13,500, an increase from $12,000 in 2011.

The Open award winner will take home $6000 and the People’s Choice award has increased to $1500, the same prize money awarded to the Best City of Wanneroo Resident.

“We are thrilled to host art awards of this calibre, which provide such a rich prize pool for artists,” Mayor Tracey Roberts said.

“Each year this event continues to grow and attracts many artists with wide ranging talent,” Mayor Roberts said. “I am really looking forward to the quality of artwork that the 2012 entrants will display.

“We have our very own purpose-built venue for the exhibition, with the Gallery in the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre hosting a wide range of exciting exhibitions this year.”

The opening night of the Art Awards is Friday, 4 May, and the exhibition will be open to the public Saturday 5 May to Sunday 3 June.
