Results of the 15 October 2011 Local Government Elections

Ordinary local government elections are held on the third Saturday in October every two years, generally for 50% of the members of every council.

The City of Wanneroo will be conducting an election for Mayor and seven (7) ward Councillors on 15 October 2011.

Voting packages were posted on 20/21 September 2011.  If electors have not received their postal voting package
or require a replacement package then they should contact the City of Wanneroo on 9405 5000.

Standing For Council

According to the Local Government Act 1995, a councillor:

• Represents the intrests of electors, ratepayers and residents of the district;
• Provides leadership and guidance to the community in the district;
• Facilitates communication between the community and the council;
• Participates in the local government's decision making processes at council and committee meetings; and
• Performs such other functions as are given to a councillor by the Act or any other written law.
