The City of Wanneroo Pioneering family has extended to 189, with 11 new Pioneers honoured.
The title of Pioneer is awarded to community members who have lived in the City of Wanneroo for 50 years of their adult life, showing an outstanding commitment to Wanneroo.
New pioneers were honoured at the annual function, this year held at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre.
2011 marks the 12th year Wanneroo Mayor Jon Kelly has welcomed new pioneers to Wanneroo.
“The story of our pioneers is the story of our City,” Mayor Kelly said. “The City is lucky to have so many people that have helped shape Wanneroo into the fantastic place it is today.
“When you hear the stories of our Pioneers you can clearly see where the City has gained its strong sense of community from.”
