The City of Wanneroo has partnered with LotteryWest and the Quinns Mindarie Surf Lifesaving Club to offer a universal beach wheelchair for use by the community at Quinns Beach on Saturday mornings during the summer surf lifesaving season.
The wheelchair will enable people who live with a disability to enjoy the ocean this summer. Technical Assistance for the Disabled in WA (TADWA) has designed the wheelchair to ensure comfort and safety for the user, ease of movement for the carer and durability of materials for a beach environment.
Additional matting has also been purchased to provide an accessible surface through the dry sand until the wheelchair reaches wet sand. A separate storage shed for the wheelchair has been constructed adjoining the Quinns Mindarie Surf Lifesaving Club at Quinns Beach.
