The City’s Community Funding Program submission period is now open until 1 April, 2011, providing grants to local community groups to assist in the delivery of services to benefit the community.
Not-for-profit community organisations seeking support for events, activities and projects are encouraged to apply for the next round of funding under the City's Community Funding Program.
The Program has two intake rounds per year, one in March and one in October, and is designed to assist local organisations and clubs, based within the City of Wanneroo, to deliver a high level of service to their members and the local community.
Applicants can apply for funding across two categories, Community Development for projects or activities or Event Sponsorship for one-off community events in the March intake round, which opens on 1 March and closes on 1 April.
A third funding category for Hallmark events such as Australia Day and ANZAC Day services and celebrations is available in October every three years, next open for submissions in October 2013.
Mayor Jon Kelly said the City was proud to support worthy people and groups in the community who organised events or programs.
"The Community Funding Program handed out more than $35,000 to 23 community groups in October 2010 and the City is looking forward to seeing a similar number of eligible applications submitted in 2011," he said.
Bill McClelland, organiser of the annual Spring in the Grove event at Banksia Grove, said that thanks to the City's Community Grants Funding of $3,000, the 2010 event was able to attract an estimated 3,500 visitors, with all profits from the day benefiting local schools and charitable causes.
Applications for the March submission period must be lodged with the City by 4pm on Friday 1 April.
