MEDIA RELEASE - Find your dog at wanneroo.wa.gov.au

Thursday, 04 Aug 2011
Lost your dog? Don’t know where to start looking? Check our website wanneroo.wa.gov.au

The City of Wanneroo’s website should be your first port of call if your dog is missing.

Our four-legged friends often find their way out of enclosures, and are easily spooked in stormy weather, with Rangers coming across many stray dogs during their regular patrols.

Dogs are taken to the Animal Care Centre in Ashby for safe keeping, with their photo posted on the website as soon as possible.

If your dog is found by one of our Rangers and is wearing a current Council registration tag, the City of Wanneroo will contact you.

“This is why it is so important to register your dog,” Mayor Jon Kelly said. “If your dog is found wandering from home, the easiest way to get it home safe is if it is registered and wearing its current tag.”

The City holds dogs for seven days, after which time dogs are re-homed where possible.

“If you are looking for a new family pet, try our Animal Care Centre,” Mayor Kelly said.
“It costs $30 (plus registration fees) to adopt a dog that has not been claimed, and you know you will be re-homing a dog that really needs a loving home.”
