Have an old-fashioned afternoon of family fun at the City of Wanneroo’s Kidsfest on Sunday, November 13.
Head along to Buckingham House and the Old Wanneroo Schoolhouse, and see how Wanneroo’s early settlers lived and what a day at school was like.
Cooking damper, hand-washing with washboards plus old-fashioned games such as hopscotch and marbles will only be part of the fun, with artist in residence Wendy Lugg demonstrating textile art and the team from the Wanneroo Men’s Shed will be there.
Be entertained by the Southern Cross Bush Band, check out the farm animals and kids can make the most of the free face painting.
The event will also celebrate 25 years of schools visiting Buckingham House for educational excursions, and the City would particularly like to invite any students who came to the house between 1986 and 1996 to come back.
“For the past 25 years Buckingham House – built between 1880 and 1890 – has been a popular place of heritage learning for school students,” Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said.
“A quarter of a century is certainly something to celebrate, so why not bring along the whole family for an afternoon of old-fashioned fun.”
