The City of Wanneroo is urging residents to be involved in the safety of their own neighbourhood with the launch of a new community initiative – OurPlace.
Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City of Wanneroo initiative aims to encourage public participation to maintain a safe community.
“The City of Wanneroo is a safe place to live, with great relationships established between WA Police, Neighbourhood Watch and the City’s own Rangers and Community Safety Patrols,” Mayor Roberts said. “By working closely with authorities such as WA Police, our suburbs will continue to be fantastic to places to reside in.
“However, a whole of community approach is needed to keep it that way, because community safety is the responsibility of everyone. So we are encouraging our residents to behave responsibly and report those who do not.”
Over recent years the City has made a huge commitment to community safety, with the installation of a CCTV network, return of community safety patrols, increasing partnerships with WA Police, and introduction of the Eyes on the Street campaign, which is strengthening the City’s commitment to delivering a safer community. The 2012 City of Wanneroo Community Calendar also provides useful safety tips.
“So help keep OurPlace safe – community safety is the responsibility of everyone.”
