The City of Wanneroo has received a $17,500 grant to support the Fabric of Life Artist Residency, with internationally renowned textile artist Wendy Lugg.
Courtesy of the Department of Culture and the Arts, the grant will allow Wendy to work with the City between August and December.
The City has also received a further $9,488 from the Community Arts Network WA for Wendy to run a series of community workshops as part of her residency.
Wendy is Western Australian born and bred, and draws inspiration from her surroundings to produce work exploring the context of place, culture, history and identity.
“As a dynamic teacher in her own right, Wendy will involve the Wanneroo community in her love of textiles by conducting the series of workshops,” Wanneroo Mayor Jon Kelly said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to participate and gain experience from an artist who has wonderful expertise to share.”
As well as hosting the workshops, Wendy will be interacting with the museum collection and the community to produce some unique artwork.
