Proposed Beach Access Way Upgrade at Queenscliff
Proposed Beach Access Way Upgrade Queenscliff , Quinns Rocks. Council invites public comment on the proposed beach access way upgrade at Quinns Rocks.
In-situ concrete steps designed to provide beach access to the beach area and of a consistent width to the existing path are proposed. They will be cast into the existing limestone rock at the base of the path and designed to accommodate pedestrians only.
Replacement of a section of conservation fencing either side of the path alignment where it is required, with revegetation of the informal access track over the dunes. Brushwork placed over the remaining dune where vegetation is sparse to encourage rehabilitation.

Relocation of Gazebo, Pathway and Limestone Walls - Broadview Park, Landsdale
The limestone walls supporting the gazebo and associated structure overlooking the Broadview Park Lake have been damaged due to sub-surface subsidence. Structural engineering consultants engaged by the City undertook detailed geological investigation and have recommended major reconstruction or replacement of the walls which will require the removal of the gazebo and associated structures.
Due to significant costs involved in the reconstruction or replacement works at the location of existing structures, it was suggested to construct a similar facility about 50metres west of the existing location. A concept plan has since been endorsed by the Council and includes the following work:
‘the relocation of the existing gazebo onto an adjoining elevated location west of the existing location, construction of a new retaining wall, regrading of the lake shoreline, demolishing the existing limestone wall/pathway and regrading the bank to create an extended shoreline”.
The concept plan can also be viewed by visiting the location of the existing gazebo in Broadview Park, Landsdale where a sign showing the concept plan has been erected.
After the close of the consultation period, City staff will summarise all submissions received and present a report on the matter to Council. All persons who make a submission on this proposal and provide their address will be notified in writing of when this item will be reported to Council. Subject to the Council’s endorsement and approval to proceed, detailed design and documentation will be prepared with a view to undertake construction works from October 2012 to December 2012.
