As part of the City of Wanneroo's 2009/2010 Capital Works Program, Pinjar Road will be constructed on a new alignment between Wanneroo Road and Carosa Road and upgraded between Carosa Road and Galileo Avenue.
The proposed works include:
- A four-lane dual carriageway from a new signalised intersection, opposite the property at 1101 Wanneroo Road, to Carosa Road and a second two-lane carriageway from Carosa Road to just south of Galileo Avenue. The new carriageways will include 1.5m wide sealed shoulders for on-road cycling;
- Road connections at Cranley Link, Bonannella Entrance, Conti Road and Tapping Street (left in/left out movements only), Edward Street and Ashley Road, with roundabouts provided at the Carosa Road/Messina Drive and Caporn Street/Hollosy Way intersections.
- Dual use paths 2.5m wide, linking existing "service roads" on the western side of the road reservation, with connections provided to existing paths, and;
- Consideration of an underpass crossing immediately south of the intersection with Bonannella Entrance.

The Western Australian Planning Commission identified the land reservation set aside for Pinjar Road in 1994. Concept drawings, allowing for a future dual carriageway, were produced at that time, preceding any residential land development in the area. The City then began preparation of Structure Plans for the East Wanneroo area. Following public advertising and receipt of comments during 1998 and 1999, the Council adopted these plans. The council has endorsed subsequent amendments/updates of the Structure Plans. Furthermore, as land has been developed in the East Wanneroo area, land developer contributions have been made, specifically to go towards the construction of arterial roads such as Pinjar Road.
The City is proposing to use its own workforce, assisted by specialist contractors (for kerbing, traffic control, the relocation of various public services, etc), and intends to commence construction of the works in early 2010. As the project may directly affect you, it is recommended that you familiarise yourself with the above plans. Further detailed plans will be on display at the City of Wanneroo Civic Centre, 23 Dundebar Road, Wanneroo until the end of November 2009.
A public information session will be held at 7.00pm on Monday, 30 November 2009 in the Banksia Room at the City of Wanneroo Civic Centre, 23 Dundebar Road, Wanneroo. Car parking is available at the centre.
Whilst the construction of the proposed works may cause some inconvenience to persons living in the vicinity, every endeavour will be made to ensure that this is kept to a minimum. The City considers that the proposed works will mutually benefit road users, City ratepayers and furthermore, yourself. Your cooperation therefore would be greatly appreciated.
Should you have any queries in relation to the project itself, please contact the City's Projects Engineer, Graham Milward on 9405 5392 in the first instance.
