At the 5 April council meeting the following alternative motion was moved.

That Council, in response to feedback received from the Yanchep community on the recent invitation to comment on the construction of a pedestrian path to replace the Yanchep coastal boardwalk:
- AGREES to lodge a new development application under the Metropolitan Region Scheme for the Western Australia Planning Commission’s retrospective approval of the existing coastal boardwalk at Yanchep;
- WRITES to the Chairman of the Western Australian Planning Commission advising of Council’s decision to lodge a new development application for retrospective approval of the existing Yanchep boardwalk in response to recent community feedback on the construction of an alternative pedestrian path;
- REQUIRES Administration to submit a report back to Council once a response is received from the Western Australia Planning Commission; and
- WRITES to all persons who previously made a submission on the preparation of an alternative development application for the Yanchep boardwalk in 2009 and those who more recently made a submission on the construction of an alternative pedestrian path to replace the boardwalk and ADVISES them of Council’s decision.

The City is seeking comment from Yanchep residents on the construction of a proposed 2.5m wide pedestrian pathway through the foreshore reserve connecting Compass Circle with Foreshore Vista, Yanchep, to replace the existing boardwalk link.
Details of the proposal have been forwarded to Yanchep residents by mail and can also be downloaded by clicking on the links below.
In addition, City of Wanneroo staff will also be on site at the Foreshore Vista path entry during the afternoon of Thursday 3 February 2011 from 2pm - 4pm to discuss aspects of the proposed design and answer any queries relating to this project.
Written comment on the proposal needs to be returned to the City by Tuesday 15 February 2011.
