Amendment No. 160 to District Planning Scheme No. 2, Draft Local Planning Policy 4.21 - Short-Term Accommodation, and Draft Short Term Accommodation Local Law

Community engagement has now closed. Comments were submitted from 02/01/2018 to 23/02/2018.

The Minister for Planning, Lands & Heritage approved Amendment No. 160 and the approval notice was published in the Government Gazette on 25 January 2019.  The Amendment modifies District Planning Scheme No. 2 by:

 a)     Amending Schedule 1 – General Definitions – to insert the definition of Short-Term Accommodation:

 Short-term accommodation means temporary accommodation provided either continuously or from time to time with no guest accommodated for periods totalling more than 3 months in any 12 month period.”

 b)     Amending Schedule 1 – Land Use Definitions – to insert definitions of Holiday Accommodation and Holiday House:

 Holiday accommodation means 2 or more dwellings on one lot used to provide short term accommodation for persons other than the owner of the lot.”

Holiday house means a single dwelling on one lot used to provide short term accommodation but does not include a bed and breakfast.”

c)     Inserting land use permissibility for Holiday Accommodation and Holiday House within Table 1 – The Zoning Table

City of Wanneroo District Planning Scheme No. 2 - Amendment No. 160 

Notice is hereby given that the local government of the City of Wanneroo has prepared the above mentioned planning scheme  amendment, draft Local Planning Policy 4.21 (LPP 4.21), and Short Term Accommodation Local Law.

Amendment No. 160 proposes to include a definition of short-term accommodation, and land use definitions Holiday Accommodation and Holiday House. Draft LPP 4.21 aims to guide discretionary decisions for short-term accommodation proposals. 

The Short Term Accommodation Local Law aims to provide for the regulation of small-scale short-term accommodation proposals being those with six (6) guests or less to ensure that short term accommodation does not have an undue impact on the residential amenity of the district. 

Plans and documents setting out and explaining the amendment, the draft LPP 4.21 and the draft Short-Term Accommodation Local Law are available to view from the Document Library below and will be open for inspection during office hours up to and including 23 February 2018.
