Recipes for a Healthy Gut: Talk and Cooking Demonstrations at City of Wanneroo libraries
There is evidence that having a healthy microbiome can reduce the chances of developing obesity, non-alcoholic liver disease and even certain types of cancer.
Find out how important the microbiome is to human health and how important diet is for maintaining optimal gut health every day. Based on recipes from the Gut Feeling cookbook, prepared by nutrition and microbiology scientists at Edith Cowan University, this session will introduce why plant-based foods, rich in fibre and resistant starch are essential to feed the gut microbiome.
Participants will learn how to select foods that promote better health of the microbiome and use recipes and menus from the cookbook, which has been designed specifically to improve gut health.
