Event applications

Successful events require careful planning to ensure people enjoy themselves and stay safe. This event approval process aims to guide you through the main requirements to make sure you follow the relevant laws and regulations and have a successful event.

Event application form

Please fill in the form carefully and attach (or mail in) copies of required supporting documents to avoid delays. This form also constitutes an application for a Collective Trading Licence which is mandatory for anyone running a public event in the City. Please remember that any food vendors at your event must also have their own separate approvals. Licence Fees are applicable and vary according to the length of the event. Licence fees are waived for charities and community groups. However, venue hire fees will still apply in most cases. Additional fees may apply where approvals are required for food businesses or temporary structures. All fees must be paid prior to aany approval being granted.

If you are planning a major sporting event or concert or any event likely to attract more than 3000 people then please contact the City's Communication and Events team email: as it will be considered high risk and requires a more detailed approval process.

When assessing proposed events, the City is guided by a wide range of State and local legislation. Where additional permissions or documentation is required, or a licence is granted conditionally, you will be advised in your letter of approval. Please read it carefully and follow any advice it contains as breaches of conditions may result in legal action.

Areas where extra information may be required include the supply of food, use of electrical equipment, road closures, signage and provision of toilets. If you need advice on these issues please email or call 9405 5000.

Good luck with your event. Remember, you can advertise it through the City's Facebook page by liking the page and adding a comment giving the event details.
