Ward change reminder

Published Thursday, 15th October 2015

Residents are encouraged to be aware of changes to ward boundaries before voting in local government elections on October 17.

Wanneroo
Elected Members will now represent three wards instead of four at this month’s election after a ward boundary review found the change would allow for more efficient governing.

The change will see the North and Coastal Wards merge to create the North Coast Ward.

The North Coast Ward will be represented by five councillors while the Central Ward, which adopts Carabooda, Nowergup, Neerabup, Carramar, Banksia Grove and Pinjar, will be represented by four.

The South Ward remains with five councillors and now includes Wangara and Gnangara.

The City’s significant growth and projected elector numbers were contributing factors in the decision to adopt the changes to the ward structure and representative Elected Member numbers.
