Road works boost to benefit residents ahead of schedule

Published Wednesday, 12th November 2014

The second stage of realignment works at Brazier Road, next to Yanchep Lagoon are now complete, a month ahead of schedule.

Brazier Road open

City of Wanneroo Mayor, Tracey Roberts said the realigned Brazier Road opened on Friday, with Capricorn Esplanade expected to open on 14 November.

Mayor Roberts said the City and its contractor had worked hard to deliver the works to the community ahead of time.

"Thanks to this partnership, after 14 November traffic will be able to travel from Wilkie Avenue south of Yanchep Lagoon to Beachhaven Drive opposite the Mary Lindsay Homestead," she said.

"The $4.7million for the two stages of road works are part of a larger investment in the City's northern suburbs.

"We are committed to giving all City residents access to first rate facilities, so developments like this are a priority.

"The works to realign and match levels of Brazier Road was a significant task that will greatly benefit the growing community."

Works include a new roundabout, single lane carriageway, parallel parking bays, street lighting and dual use path.

The existing temporary car park north of the Yanchep Kiosk, will be accessible from the new roundabout at the intersection of Brazier Road and Capricorn Esplanade and will remain in place as temporary car parking until construction for the Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club commences.

Access to the beach will be re-established along the existing pathway through the dunes.

Permanent car parking and beach access will form part of the works associated with the construction of the new surf life saving facilities.

Landscaping of Brazier Road is expected to be undertaken during winter of 2015.

The extension of Capricorn Esplanade, adjoining Brazier Road was undertaken by the Capricorn Village Joint Venture.
