City’s 2014/2015 Annual Report presented at Electors’ AGM

The City of Wanneroo’s 2014/2015 Annual Report has been presented to the Electors’ Annual General Meeting.

The Annual Report represents an accurate snapshot of the City’s activities over the 12
months from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015. The Annual Report also details progress made
on projects and actions in the four year Corporate Business Plan 2014-2018.

The financials have been assessed and meet the approval of the City’s external auditors.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City is in a sound financial position as a result of the elected members and City staff continuing to work diligently to achieve significant progress for residents and businesses.

“The City invested more than $47M in capital expenditure towards key community
infrastructure and facilities projects in the 2014/15 financial year, which bring outstanding
benefits to our community,” she said.

“As Mayor, I am proud of the work being done throughout the City’s boundaries, including
transport infrastructure and roads, public health initiatives, community safety measures and
recreation facilities. In addition an independent survey found that 90 per cent of City
residents are happy to live in the City.”

City achievements for 2014/15 include:

An investment of more than $47M in capital expenditure on key community infrastructure
and facilities including:

  • Significant roadworks to the value of nearly $15M ( including 11 roads completed) which improve travel and transport infrastructure in the City
  • $2M capital expenditure on traffic safety and management projects which provided welcome travel improvements for residents
  • Second stage of realignment works at Brazier Road, next to Yanchep Lagoon completed a month ahead of schedule
  • $5M in community sports facilities to ensure residents can stay active and healthy
  • $3.5M in community buildings to give community groups space to engage
  • Wangara industrial drainage upgrade – Dellamarta catchment completed
  • 42 major capital projects were identified with more than half underway and a third completed

More of the City's achievements include:

  • Half of waste (41,000 tonnes) was diverted away from landfill, a significant environmental improvement
  • The City partnered with Wanneroo Business Association and local business hubs with 75 networking and workshops hosted to help boost business capacity
  • Significant progress made on the City’s important Economic Development Strategy and Regional Economic Development Framework drafts
  • Draft Order of Magnitude Business Case finalised for the City’s freehold landholdings in the economically important Neerabup Industrial Area
  • Road resurfacing and line marking on Yanchep Beach Road in time for the annual V8 Supercar event at Barbagallo Raceway
