Community information sessions: future coastal management of Quinns Beach

Published Tuesday, 12th April 2016

The City of Wanneroo is considering coastal engineering options for the long term management of the Quinns Rocks coastline.

External consultants have identified two preferred coastal management options:
  • modification of existing groynes, construction of an additional northern groyne and beach renourishment
  • relocation of the Quinns Beach carpark, construction of an additional northern groyne and beach renourishment.
City residents are invited to attend a community information session later this month to find out more and to advise of their preferred choice.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the Council was committed to listening to its residents and would accommodate community wishes, as far as possible, when making decisions on the future of Quinns.

“Quinns Beach is a beautiful part of the City and integral to the beach-side lifestyle our community enjoys,” Mayor Roberts said.

“Unfortunately however the area suffers from significant erosion issues and the City is determined to find long term solutions to this problem.

“The City is keen to ensure that the chosen option aligns with community needs and expectations, so I invite all residents to have their say and attend one of the information sessions taking place this month.”

Community information sessions will be held at 10.30am and 6.30pm on Wednesday 27 April 2016 at the Gumblossom Community Centre Sports Hall.
