Nine talented photographers took out $3000 in prize money in the City of Wanneroo’s ‘Capture Your Wanneroo Experience’ photography competition.

The competition attracted more than 400 entries from photographers who competed to capture people enjoying their favourite spots within the City of Wanneroo. For the first time a Mayor’s Choice Award was included and Mayor Tracey Roberts selected her favourite photo of a Kookaburra at Yanchep National Park, entered into the youth category by Zavier Morey.

This year the competition was opened up to professional photographers with local photographer Kelli Bannister taking out the professional prize with an amazing image of her children enjoying one of the City’s beaches.

“I love this competition as it encourages residents, friends and visitors to adventure out into our beautiful City with plenty of picturesque places and attractions to capture. The high standard of entries was really overwhelming,” Mayor Roberts said.

Photographs were judged on their ability to capture the unique characteristics of the area, composition, focus, use of light, and creativity.

The judging panel comprised:
  • Elissa Caldwell, Marketing Manager from Experience Perth
  • Mark Zagar, Managing Director of Sauce Films
  • Simon Musgrave, City of Wanneroo Senior Graphic Designer

Images submitted to the competition will be used in City of Wanneroo publications and promotions, to assist the City to promote the region as a tourism destination.
