The free community event will include skate boarding, BMX and scooter competitions, face painting, photography competition, game vault, arts and crafts and information stalls.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the launch would formally celebrate and activate the facility, which opened to the public in August.

“The Wanneroo Skate Park is a community space for all ages and abilities,” Mayor Roberts said.

“The City’s Youth Team has empowered a group of local young people between 12 and 25 who have been heavily involved in all aspects of planning the event.

“This encourages them to take pride in the park, and they are also helping to deliver an event they are responsible for.”

The skate park has been designed to suit all types of skates, scooters and BMX, and features a 7-10 foot deep bowl, a street section, flat rail and quarter pipe, bank with a good curb on it and lots of open, flat concrete.
