Attended by members of the Two Rocks Marine Rescue, Wanneroo/Joondalup SES, Yanchep Fire and Rescue Service, Driver Reviver volunteers and representatives from Quinns Mindarie and Yanchep surf lifesaving clubs, the function acknowledged the efforts and contributions made by the emergency service volunteers to the City and its residents.

Mayor Tracey Roberts presented Volunteer Excellence awards to recipients who have gone above and beyond in contributing their time, skills and knowledge to their organisation to support emergency service functions within the community.

“The City of Wanneroo is immensely proud of all our volunteers, and we host these events each year as a way of saying thank you.

“Our emergency services volunteers play a vital role in keeping the City safe and this is just a small gesture in recognition of the tireless service each and every volunteer provides.

“Over the past year, our emergency services volunteers have donated more than 16,000 hours of their time to ensure the wellbeing of others in our community and the many visitors to our City”, said Mayor Roberts.

Awards were presented to Rob Ross from the Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group, Mark Elt from Yanchep Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Mathew Burke from the Wanneroo / Joondalup SES.

The City of Wanneroo values the services emergency services volunteers provide for the community and actively supports the units based within the City.

This year’s dinner coincided with Breast Cancer Care WA’s ‘Purple Bra Day’. A breast cancer survivor herself, Mayor Roberts took the opportunity to acknowledge the work of Breast Cancer Care WA in supporting families in the City dealing with breast cancer.
