More than $50,000 has been allocated to community groups for events as diverse as an anniversary fun day at Two Rocks, to a brass band concert at Wanneroo.

Also included in the Community Funding Program approvals at the Wanneroo Council’s December meeting was more than $10,000 for Anzac and Remembrance Day activities at Yanchep and Quinns Rocks. 

The largest single approval was $9,000 towards rental costs for the North Suburbs Men’s Shed in Landsdale.

Other successful applicants were:

The Australia Day Council of Western Australia Inc ($2,375) for a Community Citizenship Forum on 17 April at the Girrawheen Hub, Girrawheen;
 
Atlantis Productions Incorporated ($1,656) for the Flashback Reunion and Carnival at the Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association 40th Anniversary Family Fun Day,Charnwood Park, Two Rocks on a date yet to be confirmed;
 
Recreational Trail Bike Riders Association of Western Australia Inc ($3,000) for the Friends of Pinjar Project at the Pinjar Off Road Vehicle Area, Nowergup Road from
1 March 2018 to 31 May;

Challenge Brass Band ($1,760) for the Autumn Concert at the Wanneroo Community Centre, including musical workshops at the Wanneroo Recreation Centre, from 14 April to 5 May;

Vietnamese Community in Australia – WA Chapter ($5,000) for the TET New Year 2018 Celebrations at the Wanneroo Showgrounds on 23 and 24 February;

Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation ($8,070) for theYanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation 40th Anniversary Family Fun Day at Charnwood Park, Two Rocks on a date yet to be confirmed;
 
Nature Play WA ($5,000) for Cubby Town 2 at Yanchep National Park on 28 April; 

Royal Australian Air Force Association (WA Division) Inc ($1,900) for an ANZAC Day Memorial Service and Sausage Sizzle on 25 April 2018 and a Remembrance Day 100th Anniversary Memorial Service and Sausage Sizzle on 11 November 2018 at the Cambrai Memorial Village War Memorial, Merriwa;
 
Quinns Rocks RSL Sub Branch ($8,673) for an ANZAC Day Commemorative Service and Gunfire Breakfast on 25 April, a Vietnam Veteran’s Day Service and Lunch on 18 August and a Remembrance Day Service and Lunch on 11 November at Tapping Way, Quinns Rocks;

Yanchep Two Rocks RSL Sub Branch ($3,549) for an ANZAC Day Commemorative Service and Gunfire Breakfast on 25 April, a Vietnam Veterans Day Commemorative Service on 18 August, a Merchant Navy Day Commemorative Service on 3 September, a Battle for Australia Day Commemorative Service on 6 September and a Remembrance Day Commemorative Service on 11 November at the Yanchep National Park Memorial and Yanchep Sport and Social Club; and

Wanneroo Scout Group ($3,500) for an Australia Day Breakfast in the Park on 26 January at the Wanneroo Showgrounds.

This financial year the City of Wanneroo has allocated $90,000 to its Community Funding Program with a balance of $21,500 remaining for the March 2018 round of applications.
