About the position

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to work in the Community Safety & Emergency Management service unit, to identify and implement business improvement activities and advise on relevant technology solutions.  The role is broad and varied, and is a key support to the Managers for a range of projects, initiatives and strategies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Completion of a business case, policies and procedures for the implementation of licence plate recognition technology for parking compliance
  • Ensuring large and complex community safety and emergency management related projects are developed and delivered on time, within scope and budget.
  • Balancing the technical elements of the role with strategic and operational delivery.
  • Development and delivery of assigned projects including business improvement,  business case development, project planning, monitoring, reporting, quality management, contract management, stakeholder partnerships and communications management.
  • Ensure the program plan clearly outlines the alignment with strategy, business outcomes, technological solutions and benefit realisation.
  • Effective organisational change management throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure effective and regular reporting is provided for all tasks, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes, and facilitate cooperation.
  • Providing specialist advice and support to the Manager on the status and function of projects, ensuring that applicable operational processes and strategies are administered in accordance with legislation, agreed policies, procedures, service level agreements or legal instruments.

About you

As a key member of the Community Safety & Emergency Management team, you will have an ability to quickly grasp new concepts (to become an ‘expert’), influence and negotiate with others and be resourceful to achieve success. You will be adaptable with strong business and financial acumen and knowledge of Local Government compliance and governance requirements.  You will be at ease compiling strategic documentation with extensive experience with process review, development and improvement. Thriving working in a busy, dynamic and change driven environment, you will enjoy collaboration by positively leading and influencing others to deliver strategic objectives and overall, achieve great outcomes for the City and our Community.  

You will be able to demonstrate through your application (cover letter and resume) that you meet the following capabilities:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as project management, business administration or commerce.
  • Recent and extensive end to end (from discovery to delivery) project delivery experience as a Project Manager within a large and complex organisation.
  • Detailed skills in Project Management soft skills, scoping technical and functional, business case writing, time management and budget management.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Experience within change management and project governance / project risk management.
  • Advanced communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced research and analysis skills.
  • Advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Advanced organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of project management, resource planning and budget management.
