Road Projects - Koondoola – Mirrabooka Avenue (Southbound Lanes) – Beach Road to Koondoola Avenue – Road Resurfacing

Project description

To ensure the City is travel friendly with balanced and sustainable transport choices, improvements will be made to provide a smoother drive and improve safety by renewing the road surface.

Works will include:

  • Removal of the existing asphalt surface
  • Installation of new asphalt surfacing
  • Replacement of damaged kerbs and drainage pit lids
  • Reinstatement of line marking

Works are scheduled to commence 16 March 2026 and are expected to be completed within approximately five (5) consecutive days.

Night Works and Road Closure details

Due to heavy daytime traffic on Mirrabooka Avenue, and in compliance with Australian Standards and Main Roads WA Code of Practice, construction will need to be carried out as night works with full road closure of the southbound lanes.

  • 16 – 20 March 2026, between 8.00pm and 5.00am across all five (5) days.
  • Full access to Mirrabooka Avenue will be available during the day.
  • Variable Message Boards will be placed on verges two (2) weeks prior to commencement to inform road users during these works.
  • Road detours will be in place which will, at times, result in increased traffic in the surrounding areas.
  • Continuous access to properties will be maintained throughout these works
  • During construction, temporary traffic management and relevant signage will be in place during construction to safely manage traffic and pedestrians around the worksite.
  • Whilst it is inevitable that works of this nature will cause some inconvenience, every endeavour will be made to ensure this is kept to a minimum.
