Community Facility Projects - Marangaroo - Paloma Park North Oval upgrade sports floodlighting upgrades

Project description

This project has been funded under the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The objective of this project is to provide 100 lux LED sports floodlighting to the main (northern) Paloma Park oval in Marangaroo because the existing floodlights do not meet Australian Standards 2560 for large ball sports training. The scope of works undertaken as a part of the sports floodlighting upgrades include:

  • Installation of new floodlighting poles and LED luminaires to achieve 100 lux lighting level, allowing clubs to train at night.
  • Installation and programming of a floodlighting control system that allows floodlights to be dimmed to 50 lux during training and increased to 100 lux  during competitions.
  • Installation of security lights at 15m height, mounted on the same floodlighting poles. This is for park users walking their dogs, or for after sunset walks. These lights are programmed to turn on for a few hours each day, after sunset, when the floodlights are not in use.
