National Tree Day 2021: Community planting event

Verge tree planting

Roll up your sleeves and join us in brightening the ‘burbs this National Tree Day.

First held in 1996, National Tree Day has grown to become Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature protection event!

This year, City of Wanneroo is supporting National Tree Day by inviting the community to roll up their sleeves and join us in planting over 200 new trees at Willespie Park in Pearsall.

Join our Parks and Conservation team for a feel-good community event where we cultivate and rejuvenate this local park with a mix of verdant trees, such as tuarts and melaleucas.

Over time, these new additions will offer shade to families and provide local native species, such as the Carnaby’s black cockatoo, with a place to nest.

National Tree Day is an initiative run by Planet Ark in partnership with Toyota Australia.

What to bring

Water, a hat and a pair of sturdy enclosed shoes. A complimentary sausage sizzle lunch will be provided, courtesy of volunteer firefighters from Wanneroo Central, Quinns Rocks, Wanneroo Fire Support and Two Rocks Bush Fire Brigade.

Registration is essential. For more information and to register, please call 9405 5000 or email conservationmaint@wanneroo.wa.gov.au
