Resource Recovery Weekend 2026

Resource Recovery Weekend image

Clear out your home and recycle responsibly by dropping off old tyres, e‑waste, cardboard and polystyrene at the City’s Resource Recovery Weekend.

This annual event makes it easy for residents to dispose of selected hard‑to‑recycle items, helping reduce waste to landfill and combat illegal dumping across our community.

Items accepted

Tyres

Tyres will be sorted and processed to recover the valuable raw materials, which can be repurposed into new products such as softfall surfaces and road asphalt.

  • Free drop-off (limit of 4 tyres per household).
  • 4x4, motorcycle, and passenger vehicle tyres only.
  • No commercial tyres
  • Proof of residence required (driver’s licence or rates notice).

E-waste

E-waste contains valuable materials like steel, copper, and aluminium, which can be recycled into new products. Drop off your old electronics and help reduce the environmental impact of electronic waste, including:

  • Accepted Items:
    • Computers, Laptops, iPods, and Mobile Phones
    • Printers, Scanners, and Copiers
    • LCD, Plasma, and CRT Monitors & TVs
    • Modems, Keyboards, and Circuit Boards.

Cardboard

If you have excess cardboard laying around, this is the perfect opportunity to drop it off for recycling.

  • Cardboard must be clean and preferably flattened.

Polystyrene (EPS)

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) packaging can be dropped off for recycling into new plastic products.

  • Bulk EPS (white packaging from whitegoods or electronics) will be accepted,
  • Please note: Meat trays, cups, beads, or other expanded plastics will not be taken.

All accepted items will be collected and processed for recycling through approved facilities.

Items not accepted

  • CRTs, broken or cracked screens
  • Whitegoods (e.g. fridges, washing machines)
  • Meat trays, cups, beads, or other expanded plastics
  • Contaminated or hazardous materials (e.g. car batteries, smoke alarms)
  • Furniture (e.g. mattresses, lounges)
  • More than 4 tyres per household

For these items, visit Tamala Park or the Balcatta Recycling Centre (fees may apply).
