A proud City of Wanneroo resident, Michaela is a violinist, conductor and experienced music educator who leads JSO with passion and precision. She has taught and performed across Perth for many years and has extensive experience developing young musicians through school and community programs. (Fun fact: she once performed for Michael Jackson during his 1996 Perth tour.)

Her musical background includes interstate and international tours, multiple solo awards, and mentoring younger brass players within her family and the local community.

Jan Chamberlain – Principal Cello

With over five decades of experience, Jan has performed with respected UK ensembles including the Doyle Carte Opera Company and the Dulwich Conservatoire Orchestra. She performs on a rare 1700s English cello and balances musical life with her career as a Nurse Lecturer. Since moving to Wanneroo, she has become a key contributor to Perth’s community music scene and also teaches private cello students.

John Peiris – Associate Concertmaster

A violin virtuoso who began playing at age eight, John trained at Perth Modern School and now performs with several Perth community orchestras. Alongside his medical studies at UWA, he contributes his musical leadership to JSO and participates in volunteer programs, balancing high-level performance with extensive community service.
