The City is committed to making our community more inclusive and accessible for everyone. As part of this commitment, we are introducing mobility mapping across key activity centres to help residents plan safer, easier and more predictable journeys.
Our first mobility map is now available for the Wanneroo Town Centre, providing clear information on the level of effort required to travel along different footpaths and routes. This helps people choose paths that best suit their mobility needs, whether you use a wheelchair, mobility aid, pram, or simply prefer flatter, smoother surfaces.
You can explore the Wanneroo Town Centre Mobility Map using any smartphone, tablet or computer.

What the mobility map shows
The Mobility Map translates real accessibility data into an easy‑to‑read digital display.
Each route is rated by its “Level of Effort”, (green, yellow, orange, red or black) based on factors such as:
- slope and crossfall
- surface quality and roughness
- uneven or bumpy areas
- ramps, inclines and crossings
- how physically demanding a route may feel
This information is designed to support everyday trip planning such as visiting local shops, attending appointments, or connecting with public spaces in the Town Centre.
How the data was collected
To ensure high‑quality, reliable information, the City worked with accessibility specialists Briometrix.
Trained Wheelchair Pilots travelled every footpath and crossing using smart sensors that measure real‑world conditions from the perspective of a person with limited mobility.
This lived‑experience approach ensures the resulting map reflects what people actually feel and encounter when moving through the area.
Making journeys even smoother
As part of developing the mobility map, some accessibility issues were identified across the town centre. These will be addressed over time through the City’s existing works and upgrade programs.
If you notice an accessibility issue during your journey, we encourage you to contact the City and let us know on (08) 9405 5000.
Where mobility mapping is happening
Mobility mapping is being rolled out across several locations in the City. Wanneroo Town Centre is the first area to be published, with additional centres to be mapped over time, including:
- Clarkson
- Yanchep
- Girrawheen
As new locations are completed, they will be added to this page and made available for community use.
Disclaimer
The Mobility Map is designed to provide general accessibility and pathway information to assist users in planning journeys and understanding pathway conditions. Every metre of pathway that is marked with a Briometrix “Effort Rating” has been personally surveyed by a person using a wheelchair.

Pathway conditions, infrastructure, construction works, weather, vegetation, traffic conditions, temporary obstacles, and accessibility features may change without notice.
Users must exercise their own judgement and care when travelling and should not rely solely on the information provided by the Mobility Map when making travel decisions.
Accessibility indicators, Effort Ratings, and related map information are based on available data, Australian Standards, and Briometrix assessment methodologies. These ratings may not reflect the specific abilities, requirements, preferences, or experiences of all users.
