We’re reimagining how we create great places in the Wanneroo Town Centre; and you’ll start to see some exciting changes soon.

A new pop-up space is coming to the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, designed to create more opportunities for sitting, relaxing and connecting. This initiative is part of the City’s broader vision to grow a town centre that feels vibrant, welcoming and people-focused.

The temporary activation will include an outdoor space near the library entrance, along with a cosy and inviting area inside the foyer. These spaces will be thoughtfully set up to encourage people to pause, meet friends, enjoy a quiet moment, or simply spend more time in the heart of the centre.

This is a trial, not a permanent change. It’s an opportunity to explore new ideas, experiment with different ways of using public space, and see how small improvements can make a big impact on how the town centre looks and feels.

The Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre will remain open and accessible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Wanneroo Revitalisation Project?

The revitalisation of the Wanneroo Town Centre has been a long‑term priority for the City, with the goal of creating a vibrant, welcoming and connected heart for our community. Over the past two decades, the City has invested in key destinations such as the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, Civic Centre, Aquamotion and the Wanneroo Central Shopping Centre redevelopment.

While these improvements have strengthened the precinct, more work is needed in our public spaces and gathering areas, to create a truly cohesive, people‑friendly place. To achieve this, the City is taking a place‑led approach, putting community experiences, local identity and everyday usability at the centre of planning and design. This approach focuses on how people move, meet, rest, play and connect, not just on infrastructure.

What’s guiding the Wanneroo Town Centre revitalisation?

The City’s broader objective is to create vibrant, connected and people focused places including:

  • Creating safer, greener and more inviting public spaces
  • Improving footpaths, shade, seating and connections between key destinations
  • Encouraging street life, local activity and economic vibrancy
  • Strengthening local identity and sense of place
  • Planning for a more walkable, accessible and climate‑resilient centre

Why pop‑ups and temporary activations?

Temporary activations are an important part of the revitalisation approach. They allow the City to:

  • Test ideas before making long‑term decisions
  • Gather real feedback from the community
  • See how people actually use different types of spaces
  • Trial materials, layouts, shade, seating and greenery
  • Build momentum and create immediate improvements while long‑term planning is underway
  • These trials help ensure future changes truly reflect what the community values.
