Upgrades are being undertaken at the Kingsway Rugby Pavilion and Clubrooms to support the facility’s ongoing operations and the continued growth in rugby participation.
The Wanneroo Districts Rugby Union Football Club (WRC) currently operates from the Kingsway Rugby Pavilion and is one of Perth’s largest and most successful rugby union clubs. With 27 teams participating in Rugby WA’s winter season, junior participation has grown year on year, and the club also hosts a growing Summer Touch Rugby completion.
The upgrades will be delivered in two stages.
Stage 1 – Changeroom
• Construction of four (4) additional change rooms
Works are scheduled to commence in early October 2026, with completion to occur ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup which commences in October 2027.
Stage 2 – Clubroom building
Stage 2 will involve upgrades to the existing clubroom building, which is currently in the design phase.
The proposed works include:
• Expansion of the gym, kitchen facilities and multipurpose areas
• Accessibility upgrades to meet current accessibility requirements
A construction timeframe for Stage 2 will be confirmed once the project progresses closer to commencement. The rugby oval floodlighting is also being upgraded to 200 lux as part of a separate project this financial year.
