Local company scores rugby pavilion tender

Works will include the construction of four new changerooms on the western side of the existing pavilion, helping to cater for the club’s growing number of female participants.

The upgrades will be completed ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2027, which will be held in Australia from 1 October to 13 November 2027, enhancing the club's capacity to support rugby participation and high-performance training.

The two-stage redevelopment of the facility is being supported by a $3 million contribution from the Cook Labor Government and the Rugby World Cup 2027 Legacy Program.

Mayor Linda Aitken said World Cup fever was building and this significant investment in sporting infrastructure would deliver modern, inclusive facilities that support the continued growth of rugby union in the region for years to come.

“Wanneroo Districts is one of Perth's largest and most successful rugby union clubs, with both junior and senior membership numbers among the highest in Western Australia and female participation rates continuing to rise,” she said.

“Through this partnership with the State Government, Kingsway will soon be home to a facility that will serve our rugby community for years to come and leave a lasting legacy beyond the World Cup.”

Stage 2 of the project is currently in design phase.
