Council endorses Digital Strategy to set path for modernised City services

The Strategy sets the direction for how the City will use technology to deliver a more connected, reliable and user-friendly City for our staff and our community.

It comes as the City's population is projected to grow from around 257,000 today to close to 438,000 by 2046, increasing demand for services and the technology that supports them.

Mayor Linda Aitken said investing in the City’s digital foundations was important to keep pace with that growth.

"As one of the fastest-growing regions in WA, we need technology that can grow with us and make it easier for our community to access the services they need,” she said.

“Our current systems have developed over many years and the Digital Strategy sets a clear path towards a more connected and reliable approach.

"We've also learned from other growing local governments about what's worked for them, so we can make informed decisions about what will work best for the City.”

The Strategy was developed with consultants Delos Delta, following a review of the City's systems, staff feedback and benchmarking against comparable local governments.

Subject to further Council consideration, the next step will be an Expression of Interest process to explore market options, before developing a detailed Digital Roadmap.
