Neerabup development moves ahead to unlock land for local jobs

The City of Wanneroo is moving ahead with the next stage of the Neerabup Industrial Area, helping create more opportunities for residents to work closer to home as the City continues to grow.

At its Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 August 2026, Council accepted Dowsing Group Pty Ltd’s as the successful tender to deliver civil and servicing works at Lot 9100 Mather Drive, transforming the 16.3-hectare site into an industrial estate for future businesses.

The works will include new roads, drainage, sewerage, water, power, gas and telecommunications infrastructure, 41 ‘green-titled’ industrial lots will be created by the subdivision, with lots ranging from 1,500 to 4,600m2 and ready for settlement from late 2027 onwards.

Local company scores rugby pavilion tender

The City of Wanneroo has awarded LKS Constructions (WA) Pty Ltd the tender to deliver the first stage of the Wanneroo Districts Rugby Union Club (WDRUC) redevelopment at Kingsway Sporting Complex.

Works will include the construction of four new changerooms on the western side of the existing pavilion, helping to cater for the club’s growing number of female participants.

The upgrades will be completed ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2027, which will be held in Australia from 1 October to 13 November 2027, enhancing the club's capacity to support rugby participation and high-performance training.

Council endorses Digital Strategy to set path for modernised City services

The City of Wanneroo is taking steps to modernise how it delivers services to its fast-growing community, with Council endorsing the City’s Digital Strategy 2026–2031.

The Strategy sets the direction for how the City will use technology to deliver a more connected, reliable and user-friendly City for our staff and our community.

It comes as the City's population is projected to grow from around 257,000 today to close to 438,000 by 2046, increasing demand for services and the technology that supports them.

Council endorses Alkimos foreshore plan for public consultation

Community consultation will soon begin on the draft Alkimos Coastal Village Foreshore Management Plan after Council endorsed public advertising.

Prepared by DevelopmentWA, the plan will guide the future management of almost 28 hectares of foreshore and public open space at Alkimos Coastal Village, supporting its role as a regional beach destination.

The draft plan sets out a long-term approach to balancing recreation, public access, environmental protection and coastal resilience. It also identifies a preferred location for a future permanent Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club – the detail of which will be determined through a separate Surf Life Saving Club concept design and community engagement process.

The community will be invited to provide feedback for the draft Alkimos Coastal Village Foreshore Management plan during a 21-day public consultation period, later this year. Submissions will be considered before the plan is presented back to Council for final adoption.
