National NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built this movement. the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.
We invite you to celebrate NAIDOC Week and grow your understanding of First Nations cultures and histories through a range of free activities held in the City of Wanneroo.
What's on in the City
2026 Flag Raising Ceremony
Friday 3 July 2026 // 10am to 11am at the Civic Centre Amphitheatre, Wanneroo Civic Centre.
Join us to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 with a special flag raising ceremony honouring the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags. The ceremony will include a Welcome to Country, formal Flag Raising, formal address by Mayor Linda Aitken and a cultural performance. Attendees are invited to stay afterwards to connect with others and enjoy light refreshments.
Koorda Crew - Deadly Science Workshops

Billy the Bidit - A NAIDOC Week Storytime

Tree Planting and Indigenous Art
Wednesday 8 July // 1pm to 4pm at Galleon Park, Yanchep.
Join us for an afternoon of tree planting at Galleon Park, Yanchep (meeting point: Lady Lindsay Cove), followed by Indigenous art activities at the Yanchep Community Centre, 7 Lagoon Road.
Woven Stories - NAIDOC Exhibition
Saturday 27 June to Saturday 18 July // open Wed to Sat // 10am to 4pm at Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, Ground Floor Meeting Room.
Woven Stories displays the beautiful hand-woven baskets of local artist Courtney Hill and six photographic portraits by Cole Baxter.
Mookaroo Festival
Friday 10 July // 10am to 2pm at True North, Merriwa.
Celebrate NAIDOC Week at this family-friendly festival, run by Ngulla Koort Indigenous Corporation, featuring food trucks, live music, storytelling and kids’ activities.

We would like to pay respect to the Elders of the Noongar nation, past, present and future, who have walked and cared for the land and we acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contributions made to the life of this City and this region.
