Baseball and softball clubrooms opening at Kingsway

An official opening event for the new baseball and softball clubrooms at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex will take place today, Friday 15 April, at 6.30pm.
The Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex development project began in 2013 and has included the addition of a new main hall, change rooms, kitchen facilities and equipment storage areas. The opening of the clubrooms marks the completion of the project.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the opening, which marks the completion of the development project, would make a big difference in the local community.
“One of our goals within the City of Wanneroo is to encourage and enable our residents to lead healthy lives and I am certain the upgraded facilities at Kingsway are another step in that direction,” she said.
“Each year more than 8000 new residents move into our local government area and as such we need to ensure our community facilities fit the needs of our growing City.
“The upgrades and new facilities at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex will allow more residents the opportunity to stay active and healthy in their local area which is brilliant.”
The clubrooms are now the home of the Vikings Softball Club during the winter season and the Wanneroo Giants Baseball Club during the summer season.
“I want to express my thanks to these clubs for their support and everything they do within our community as volunteers,” Mayor Roberts said.
Attendees of the opening event will include Mayor Tracey Roberts and Member for North Metropolitan Region Peter Katsambanis MLC, as well as representatives from the Department of Sport and Recreation and both sporting clubs.
