Our Active Transport Plan aims to create a safe, connected and reliable active transport environment that is attractive to a variety of users and provides a credible alternative to vehicle use for local trips of 0 - 10km.
It seeks to enable people to move around easily and feel safe in public places by delivering infrastructure and strategies that encourage the community to consider modes of active transport such as walking and cycling including eRideables.
It can be used for recreational trips and commuting between the home, workplaces, regional / district facilities and schools.
This plan supports the City’s strategic goals of creating a well-planned, safe and resilient City that is easy to travel around and provides a connection between people and places, and creating a balanced and sustainable transport future.
There are significant benefits that can be achieved through increased levels of cycling that apply to both individuals and the broader community, including:
- Reduced congestion on the road network
- Improved health and fitness
- Energy efficiency and less use of petrol and fossil fuels
- Cost savings to Governments
- Less cost to individuals
- Improved accessibility to activities by people of all ages
New legislation under the WA Government Road Traffic Code 2000 enables the use of eRideables on public roads and pathways. As the regulations controlling the use of these devices are contained in the Road Traffic Code, enforcement is managed by the WA Police.
Your Move Wanneroo
Your Move is a free program run by the WA Department of Transport to support residents to become more active and connected in their local community.
The City strongly encourages schools, workplaces and residents to take part in the program to work towards a more sustainable transport network.
By planning activities to increase active travel, you can earn points by writing stories about your journeys and redeem the points for a range of rewards.
The City of Wanneroo initially collaborated with the State Government in 2015 to deliver the Your Move program. For a quick look at what you can expect by getting involved, watch this short video below:

One side of the guide is for public transport, it shows bus routes, train stations and bus stops. The other side of the guide is for walking and cycling, it shows bike routes, shared paths (for cyclists and walkers), bike lanes, walking trails and facilities.

- Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club, 2 Quinns Rd, Quinns Rocks

How do I use the bike repair stations?
The repair stations are a great way to do some simple maintenance and quick repairs on any bike. The stations contain a number of tools to help you adjust your bike and a foot operated bike pump.
10th Light Horse Trail
North of Flynn Drive and Wanneroo Road intersection - 1.2km long.
Koondoola Regional Bushland Trail
Entrance between Marangaroo Drive, Koondoola Avenue, Alexander Drive and Beach Road - 300m long.
Landsdale Conservation Reserve
Off Landsdale Road opposite Kilchurn Promenade – 700m long (approximately 30 min to complete).
Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail
Starts at Lake Joondalup and finishes in Yanchep – 28 km long (5 sections – between 1-4hrs to finish).
Yanchep Regional Park Trails
133km of trails that range from 20 min to 3.5 days to complete.
