Temporary Lane Closure – Barakee Entrance, Yanchep (for METRONET Yanchep Rail project)

Community engagement has now closed. Comments were submitted from 20/10/2022 to 03/11/2022.

Information

The City of Wanneroo wishes to advise road users that the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension project is proposing to close the northbound lane of Barakee Entrance between Burleigh Boulevard and Willandra Loop (north) from November 2022. The closure will be in place for six months pursuant to Subdivision 5 of the Local Government Act 1995.

The purpose of the lane closure is to enable the safe installation and relocation of a water main, while ensuring a safe distance between live traffic, excavation points and working crew. During the closure, Barakee Entrance will operate as a one-way lane with only left turns permitted onto the thoroughfare.  Barriers will separate the work site from the road to ensure the safety of all road users.

You can read more about the lane closure at metronet.wa.gov.au/projects/yanchep-rail-extension/works.

About the project

The METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension will deliver the last proposed section of the Joondalup Line from Butler, 14.5km north to Yanchep to help support ongoing growth in the area and reduce congestion, while supporting about 1,370 jobs.

The extension will give more than 150,000 future Yanchep-Two Rocks residents another transport option to travel around Perth. For more information visit metronet.wa.gov.au/projects/yanchep-rail-extension.
