Thousands of bikes are stolen across Western Australia each year, many of which are recovered by WA Police.

In many cases, police are unable to return bikes to owners because there are no records of serial numbers and other features.

Creating a profile on Bikelinc gives you and your family the best chance to get your bike back should it ever be lost or stolen.

It takes five minutes to create a profile, all you need is key details including the serial number, brand, make and model.

There are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals.

• Lock all doors and windows.
• Keep fly screens locked.
• Never leave a spare key outside. Leave one with a neighbour, friend or relative.
• Cut back shrubbery around your home. This will make it harder for burglars to hide, and will increase visibility of your home from the street.
• Make records and take photographs of valuables. Record serial numbers, descriptions, estimate values etc. 
• Keep your house number clearly visible.  
• Make sure your home is well lit at night.
• Lock all sheds, garages and side gates.
• Put away tools, ladders and equipment that could be used to break in.
• Keep your letter and meter box locked.
• Be mindful when posting information on social media; saying you are on holiday suggests you are away from home.
• Install and use a house alarm and CCTV.

• Close and lock all windows and doors.
• Remove valuables - mobile phones, iPods, laptops, CDs, money, sunglasses, bags etc.
• Do not place items in your boot, console or under your front seat - you never know who is watching. If it is valuable, take it with you.
• Do not leave loose change in view; thieves will do hundreds of dollars damage to steal small amounts of money.
• Power cables indicate there are valuable items hidden in a vehicle. Remove these from view.
• Never hide a second set of keys anywhere in your car. Thieves know where to look.
• Have your keys in your hand before you get to your car. Be aware of your surroundings.

The City is not responsible for removing graffiti from private property, schools, commercial sites, development sites, shopping centres, businesses and public utilities.

Report all graffiti to the State Graffiti Taskforce. This agency also provides advice about graffiti removal and prevention.
