Proposed Intensive Agriculture (mushroom farm) – 163 Belgrade Road, Wanneroo

The City has received an application for Approval to Commence Development for Intensive Agriculture (Mushroom Farm) at 163 Belgrade Road, Wanneroo.

At its meeting of 17 September 2013, Council approved an application for proposed additions to the then Intensive Agriculture (Crown Mushrooms) comprising of an indoor composting facility, bio-filter, ammonia scrubber and stormwater compensation basin.  The approval required the development to be completed and operational prior to 31 December 2014.  In October 2014, Crown Mushrooms ceased operations and the development the subject of Council’s 2013 approval was not constructed.

In December 2014 the land changed ownership and the new landowner is now seeking approval to continue the Intensive Agriculture activities from the subject land without constructing the development the subject of Council’s 2013 approval.  This is because the new landowner does not wish to manufacture compost on the site instead they propose to import already blended compost for use in the mushroom growing activities.
