Information
Following advocacy by the Olympic Kingsway Sports Club, The City of Wanneroo has received WA Recovery Plan funds in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 financial years for the installation of floodlighting to Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex, located at 100 Kingsway, Madeley. This project is funded by the State Government’s WA Recovery Plan Program.
The works, which are planned to be completed by 2023/24, include:
- Installation of LED floodlighting to meet Australian Standards 2560 – all football codes:
- Olympic Kingsway main field: Professional Competition (500 Lux)
- Soccer Fields 2 and 3: Semi Professional Competition (200 Lux)
- Possible installation of lower powered floodlights for recreation purposes whilst the sport lighting is not in use.
- Possible installation of solar panels and battery storage subject to funding.
The new floodlighting will be designed to control light spill into surrounding properties (in accordance with Australian Standard AS 4282 “Control of obtrusive effects of outdoor lighting”). The floodlighting will be activated by the use of a SMS-based control system to ensure the floodlights are only active whilst the field(s) are in use.
