Information

The City is planning to install traffic management treatments on Ashley Road, Tapping.

The Ashley Road section from Watkins Loop to Cozens Road in listed in the City's draft Capital Works Program, for construction this year.  The proposed traffic treatment for this section of Ashley Road involves the installation of four sets of raised plateaux with the associated signage & pavement line markings that are required for the wider sections of the carriageway. The installation of these speed plateaux will require installing new streetlights as shown on the plan to comply with Australian Standards.

The installation of these traffic treatments will be effective in reducing vehicle speeds and volumes, as well as deterring hoon driver behaviour, which in turn will lead to safer roads. While these speed cushions treatments have been known to impact residents with an increase in vehicle noise, the reduction in speeds should offset this impact.

A copy of the concept plan (4147-1-0) for the proposed traffic treatments is available for viewing - See attachment.

The City is consulting directly with affected residents through to COB Friday, 18 February 2022.

The City will consider the feedback received and present a report to Council.
