Road Projects - Landsdale - Alexander Drive - New shared pathway

A new shared path will be installed on the west side of Alexander Drive from Gnangara Road to Hepburn Avenue. 

The 2.8km dual use red asphalt pathway will be installed to provide a safe and accessible pathway network for the community. 

In preparation for this project, works commenced in October 2024 to adjust the utilities services by removing power poles and undergrounding existing overhead power lines and lowering existing underground water, electrical, gas and telecommunication services along Alexander Drive.  As these works have progressed significantly, this has enabled construction of the new pathway to commence in stages. 

Stages completed

• Stage 1 - Hepburn Avenue to Kingsway
• Stage 2 - Kingsway to Arduaine Street

Next stages

• Stage 3 - Arduaine Street to Queensway Road – Construction to commence following completion of Stage 4A with completion anticipated by August 2026.
• Stage 4A - Queensway Road to Haga Parkway – Construction has commenced, with completion anticipated by the end of May 2026.
• Stage 4B - Haga Parkway to Gnangara Road – Partially completed, with completion anticipated by end of May 2026.

All stages are anticipated to be completed by 31 August 2026.

Partial road closure

• To ensure safety for road users and pedestrians, the majority of construction works will take place under a one lane northbound closure on Alexander Drive. 
• Access on Alexander Drive will be continuous throughout these works.
• Temporary traffic management will be implemented to safely manage traffic and pedestrians around the worksite.
• Whilst is it inevitable that works of this nature will cause some inconvenience, every endeavour will be made to ensure this is kept to a minimum.

Night works

Night works are required to complete the drainage crossing works on Stages 3, 4A and 4B. The City’s contractor will send a written notice 48 hours prior to any night works to all residents within 200 metres from the works.

Variable Message Boards (VMBs) will be placed on the verge one week prior to communicate the night works to road users.
