Road Projects - Landsdale - Alexander Drive - New shared pathway

A new shared path will be installed on the west side of Alexander Drive from Gnangara Road to Hepburn Avenue. 

The 2.8km dual use red asphalt pathway will be installed to provide a safe and accessible pathway network for the community. 

In preparation for this project, works commenced in October 2024 to adjust the utilities services by removing power poles and undergrounding existing overhead power lines and lowering existing underground water, electrical, gas and telecommunication services along Alexander Drive.  As these works have progressed significantly, this has enabled construction of the new pathway to commence in stages. 

Stage 1 of the pathway construction, from Hepburn Avenue to Kingsway was completed in July 2025. 

Next stages

Stage 2, Kingsway to Arduaine Street commenced construction week starting 27 October 2025 with Stages 3 and 4, Arduaine Street to Gnangara Road to follow.  The anticipated completion date, for all of these stages, is 30 June 2026.  

Partial road closure

• To ensure safety for road users and pedestrians, the majority of construction works will take place under a one lane northbound closure on Alexander Drive. 
• Access on Alexander Drive will be continuous throughout these works.
• Temporary traffic management will be implemented to safely manage traffic and pedestrians around the worksite.
• Whilst is it inevitable that works of this nature will cause some inconvenience, every endeavour will be made to ensure this is kept to a minimum.

Night works

Night works are required to complete the drainage crossing works on Alexander Drive and is scheduled for Thursday, 11 December 2025 between 7pm and 6am.

The City’s contractor will be in direct contact with the surrounding residents prior to the above date and Variable Message Boards (VMBs) will be placed on the verge one week prior to communicate the night works to road users.
