Seniors, accessibility and inclusion
Dordaak Kepup has been thoughtfully designed to ensure accessibility for everyone, featuring wide doorways, varied seating, quiet study zones and a Changing Places facility. Seniors can enjoy peaceful reading nooks overlooking Broadview Park and access large-print, audio and multilingual resources. Programs focused on social connection, skill sharing and digital literacy create a relaxed, supportive environment where seniors can confidently explore new technologies and lifelong learning opportunities.
Aboriginal engagement
The name Dordaak Kepup was chosen through a Noongar naming program in collaboration with Noongar Elders, reflecting the deep cultural roots of the site. Inside the facility, 19 rooms and spaces carry culturally significant names that honour local heritage and stories. In partnership with Elders and members of Ni Kadadjiny Koort, the City has developed bespoke videos that share the meaning behind each name, offering visitors a deeper understanding of Noongar culture. The story of the lake, its cultural significance, and broader aspects of Noongar heritage are also shared through signage, storytelling and community programs throughout the space.
