- Every week
- Location: Wanneroo Regional Gallery , 3 Rocca Way, Wanneroo

Step inside Pompeii. No passport needed.
The European Union presents Inside Pompeii: Origins of a European way of Life – Photographs by Luigi Spina at Wanneroo Regional Gallery, open from 10am to 4pm, Wednesday to Saturdays.
This FREE exhibition brings the ancient world to life through stunning photography by Luigi Spina. Through the images, you can explore what everyday European life looked like nearly 2,000 years ago capturing everything from the colourful artwork and quiet streets to the homes of people who lived in one of history’s most famous cities.
A rare look inside
During the pandemic, when Pompeii was closed to visitors, Luigi Spina was given special access to explore the site. Using a custom-built camera and natural light, he captured over 1,400 photos that show the city as it once was – full of life, detail and stories.
This photo exhibition brings together a selection of those images, inviting you to walk through Pompeii’s streets, admire its artwork and imagine the lives of the people who lived there.
Perfect for families
Families can pick up a free brochure at the gallery entrance to help guide kids through the art exhibition. It’s a fun and easy way to learn together and spark curiosity about history.
Whether you’re looking for something different to do with the kids or want to explore something new close to home, Inside Pompeii: Origins of a European Way of Life is a great way to connect with the past.
About Pompeii
Pompeii is a World Heritage site, protected so future generations can learn from the past. This exhibition is part of a cultural exchange between the European Union and Australia, showing how sharing stories and traditions helps build understanding and connection.
“I invite you to explore this extraordinary exhibition and experience Pompeii as it once was – vibrant, thriving and profoundly human.”
