The City's annual tree planting program plants approximately 3,500 new trees in parks, streetscapes and residential verges. All trees planted by the City are manually watered for the first two summers to ensure their ongoing health and structure.
How to request a verge or street tree
Residents can request a free tree to be planted on the verge adjacent to their property. Cut off dates each year will allow us time to procure suitable stock and schedule planting the following winter.
2026 planting season
- Applications are now open - apply now
- Submit your request by 30 November 2025
2027 planting season
- Applications open on 1 December 2025
- Submit your request by 31 August 2026
Requests received after the cutoff date will be considered for the following winter season, subject to budget allocation.
